Joe and Cindy
In a country where Christianity is unwelcome and believers still persecuted, we continue our monthly support of the underground church with financial assistance for evangelism, pastoral care, construction projects, food and medicine for the elderly, micro-business ventures and discipleship.
A few things they have done since arriving in early 2010 include:
- Providing single mothers with improved housing, food, medicine, vitamins, firewood, and other assistance, as needed
- Paying medical bills
- Providing educational assistance and encouragement to poor Mayan teen-age girls
- Assisting other local organizations in their provision of critical services to the poor, including temporary housing, water filteration systems, clothing, Christmas food baskets, etc.
Cindy uses her Occupational Therapy training to help where needed in local villages. She also facilitates a Bible study to primarily English speaking ex-pats, as well as neighboring Guatemalan women. Joe and Cindy cover their own personal expenses so all donated funds go directly to supporting the needs of the Guatemalan people for food, housing, medical needs, and education.
Any donations can be mailed to CrossWays Ministries (memo – Guatemala) or you can donate online.
Guatemala’s social development indicators, such as infant mortality, chronic child malnutrition, and illiteracy, are among the worst in the hemisphere.
